CoRE AI is an African-European Cluster of Research Excellence

Dedicated to research and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computational Thinking.

What we do

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a powerful tool for addressing global societal challenges, such as climate change, food security, and social justice. The Cluster aims to enhance research and postgraduate training at key universities in Africa and Europe and to initiate globally relevant projects. Core AI, led by an international group of researchers, is funded by seed money from universities within the African Research Universities Association (ARUA) and The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities.

Our Masterclass

AI research and training in Africa need enhancement. Efforts are underway to strengthen AI and Data Science capabilities at top African universities.

CoRE AI Kickoff Workshop

It was 2 days of inspiration and agenda-setting at the kick-off meeting of the Cluster of Research Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at Uppsala University, Sweden on 16th and 17th November, 2023. We co-created a vision for the future of AI research in Africa leveraging on the global South and North collaboration through the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities network. Stay tuned for the fantastic projects we’ll be unveiling next year!
