Kujenga, meaning “to build” in Swahili, is a six-week program launched in February 2026 by CoRE AI (Cluster of Research Excellence in AI) at Uppsala University, with support from the IT Equal Opportunities Group. The program helps students use mathematical modelling and AI to solve real-world challenges in their communities. It received over 1,200 applications, from which 30 students per partner university were selected to begin their journey in machine learning by developing their ideas into computational models.
